Results 2011 NOPMS 6th Annual Show & Contest The 2011 North Olympic Peninsula Model Show and Contest Is In The Books! And a successful show contest it was! |
Our first experience with the entire building was met with enthusiasm by
more than 200 paid admission visitors, including 60 modelers entering
some 306 models in the contest.
Additionally, there were displays of another 50 or more including the
NOPMS Club Exhibit. This exhibit was an impressive array of U.S. Naval
Aircraft bookended by the USS Langley (CV-1) and USS Lexington (CV-2)
aircraft carriers.
A colorful multimedia booth celebrating the show theme “100 Years of U.
S. Naval Aviation 1911 - 2011” was staffed by two Chief Petty Officers
from Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.
The rest and refreshment area was appreciated by many weary modelers
and volunteers. Downstairs the vendor room was always active with the
sale of plastic kits, after market goodies and the raffle room sprang to life
every hour for drawings to give away more than 220 modeling items. We
received front page coverage by the Port Townsend edition of the
Peninsula Daily News and complete photo coverage by the Port
Townsend Leader on their website.
Fort Worden has notified us that we are scheduled for the entire building
again on June 9, 2012 for Peninsula Model Show and Contest 2012. They
have received many compliments on our show from park visitors.
