SUPPORTING
OUR TROOPS
Supporting our Troops

NOPMS has sent more than 80 model kits plus paint, tools
&  supplies to Iraq May, 2005.  Club members, Rich & Joy
Sullivan (R&J Enterprises) were contacted from Iraq by SSgt
Tim Kosak of the 103rd Armored Regiment, Pennsylvania
National Guard, to order after market armor materials. Since
our club was considering participation in the drive to send
modelling supplies to the troops, the Sullivans asked Tim if
his group would like to have some sent directly to the
    regiment.

Tim was very enthusiastic in his affirmative reply so the club
went    to work selling some kits at a Make N Take event for
cash and raiding our stashes to get some of the "good stuff"
together to ship  to Tim and his friends. Through the effort of
MiniMania, a local hobby shop, everything was collected and
boxed up for Shipment. The local newspaper heard about the
club efforts and prepared a front page color article. Local
people sent more than $200 to help  with shipping and
supplies...and it still keeps coming in.

Tim reports that the models are really appreciated as there
is no friendly place to go to relax during off duty time. He said
the  kits arrived in Iraq in M1A1's and are now converted to
HUMVEES...Big   difference.  They have had some brought
times and we hope that  the stream of model kits will help
them concentrate on these small trophies as a diversion.
